While I was in school for marketing, I read an article by the American Marketing Association that talked about new roles in marketing and project management was mentioned. After reading it, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. Besides, I tried graphic design and I wasn’t great at it.
I worked in advertising and marketing for over 10 years and every time I research project management in my field, I see little. Even worse, every visualization of a project management looked uneventful. Project managers I know are energetic, fun, charming yet about their business.
Think about it…project management is the one profession where you can influence all aspects without actually working on the actual end result. It’s like you are like a music conductor. The people who are making the product are the players, the instruments are the tools and the end result is the music. And the audience enjoy the music or the end result.
So PM I Am is to bring project management from a marketing, advertising and media to light. Let’s also literally be light about it. It doesn’t have to be boring. Training doesn’t have to be 784 PowerPoint deck of someone droning on about cost management. Project management is beneficial to everyone, every situation and every organization. Let’s all enjoy learning about it.
